The third annual Ste. Anne Hospital Health Walk Fundraiser was a huge success.

Ste. Anne Hospital Fund Executive Director Zoe Nakata, says the 4 km walk Saturday took participants from the starting point at the hospital, down the new sidewalks on the main street, and through the park where a barbecue was held.

Nakata was pleasantly surprised with the 200 community members who showed up to take part in the walk which is double the number of participants from last year. She says she would have been happy to reach the same number of pledges as last year but is pleased to announce they exceeded expectations. “We thought $25,000 would be a good place to start because that's what we raised last year. We are happy to report we've raised about $28,000 as the first batch of numbers are rolling in.”

Nakata says they also have very generous sponsors like Seine River Dental helping out with the event, and she is very happy to have them. “The hospital is currently undergoing some big renovation projects, so the money raised will help out so much.”

She says it's great to have a state of the art health care facility right in the community, and it's events like the health walk that help to improve it.
