Steinbach city council has promised a decision by the end of August on the location for a new fire hall.  The administration asked council to decide soon so it can make plans which will go out to tender early next year.  Executive policy chair David Banman says 4 or 5 sites are under consideration.  The fire department has advised the most important factor is a site that firefighters can get to in a hurry.  It says people generally move out of the way for fire trucks, but it is on the way to the fire hall that firefighters often encounter delays.  Deputy Mayor Dwight Reimer says no location is perfect, but in the end, they will choose one that is acceptable.
