The MLA for Steinbach is urging the Doer Government to take a more focused approach to fighting crime.  Kelvin Goertzen, who's the justice critic, is responding to new numbers from Statistics Canada.  They show our province has the highest rate of auto theft, second highest rate of violent crime and third highest rate of break and enters in the country on a per capita basis.  He says the government needs to target these crimes to reduce the numbers rather than using a scattered approach.  Goertzen notes one bright spot in the data is a significant drop in drug crimes last year.  He believes that is due to a joint effort by all political parties to target these offences.
