The head of Public Works in Steinbach says it's taking longer than expected to clear the snow from city streets after this week's storm. Randy Reimer says persistent snow and wind have forced them to re-plow some of the main routes that were done Wednesday. He adds many residential areas have not yet been plowed. Reimer says they initially hoped to have clean-up largely completed by Friday but they've added at least one day to that schedule.

"By the end of Saturday, I don't know if we'll have everything completely clean. But we should have most streets cleared by the end of Saturday. There are a lot of residential streets that are still not plowed and we have not been able to get to a lot of the inner core, downtown stuff. We'll probably do a lot of that inner core, downtown stuff early tomorrow (Friday) morning."

Reimer reminds people to refrain from parking on the streets until snow-clearing has been completed.
