Friday was opening night for The Mousetrap at the Niverville Heritage Centre.

Director Alan Fehr says after working on the play for months, he is really pleased with the final product. He notes all the laughter and gasps from the audience also gave him the impression that they were on the same page.

“The cast was amazing, everyone just suited their characters so perfectly well. The characters themselves were just jumping off the page and I said, 'I know who is perfect for this part, this person is good for that,' and they all live up perfectly to my expectations.”

Deb Rogalsky plays the part of Mrs. Boyle, a cranky dissatisfied character that she describes as "a piece of work". She notes murder, mystery, and intrigue played out well with the crowd.

“Anyone who has read any Agatha Christie murder mystery stories in the past, she always leaves you guessing right to the end. The evidence seems to point first to one person and then to another and it is really fun to try and guess who the murderer might be and what the motive might be. You really do stay guessing right to the end.”

Fehr says despite the Niverville Heritage Centre not being the most obvious choice for a theatre venue, it works even better than he had hoped.

“The people here at the Niverville Heritage Centre have been so welcoming, they really wanted to see this show succeed and they did everything they could to help facilitate that.”

Fehr says he is looking forward to the rest of the run and notes there are still some tickets available at the door. The Mousetrap has one show Saturday evening and an afternoon show and evening show on Sunday.
