They tend to take things in stride at The Rental House.

In the summer of 2022, with construction limiting access to their location at 260 Park Rd, just northwest of Steinbach, the business adapted by raising large signs to help reroute customers and delivery drivers.

“We tried to take it as ‘business as usual’,” says Oliver Kopp. “We had constant conversations with customers who were complaining about the road still being closed. And I’d say, ‘Hey, trust me, man. I have to drive it every day. I know it’s closed. I feel the pain’!”

Kopp, The Rental House’s general manager, did his best to take on a business-as-usual approach. He knew the road work was to Steinbach’s benefit, and the combination of the arrow-marked signs and a positive, forward-looking attitude allowed The Rental House to thrive amidst less-than-ideal circumstances.

“It wasn’t always easy,” Kopp concedes. “But the road is open now, and we’re excited.”

With the reopening of Park Rd W, individuals and industrial customers can now make the short, smooth drive to secure rental implements such as aerial platforms and lifts, landscaping and earth-moving equipment, air compressors, heat exchangers, trailers, compacting equipment, and a wide variety of power tools.

As extra incentive to visit the store, The Rental House has marked down most of its rental and sales inventory and is offering 25% off all rentals of hand-held tools. It’s what Kopp calls a “win-win” for customers.

“It’s now easier to get to us, plus we’re giving you some discounts,” he explains. “It’s pavement all the way to our driveway.”

The Rental House is always endeavouring to support local business, and to that end they’ve stocked industrial heaters that are already in demand among the construction sector. Kopp adds that he has jackhammers, tile saws, and smaller tools for winter home renovations as well.

Looking ahead, The Rental House is also preparing a new, bigger shop site near its present location – at 98 Industrial Rd, across from Rotessa.

“We just started the groundwork,” says Kopp. “Hopefully by next December or January 2025 we’ll be in it. And we’ll have a huge, huge sale – the biggest you’ve ever seen.”

For now, The Rental House’s loyal customers, as well as new ones, can look forward to comfortably accessing the Park Rd store, open 7:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday and 9:00am-1:00pm Saturday.

“We apologize for the inconvenience of the road closure,” says Kopp. “We are excited to have you come back through our doors if we’ve missed you.”
