Third annual Southeast Truck Show gathers community for good causes

Semis, raffles, face painting, live music and good causes: that is what the Southeast Truck Show offers.

Many community members gathered in Steinbach to experience semi-truck land on Saturday. The first Southeast Truck Show was held in 2019, making this year the third annual show.

However, Organizer Bill Schroeder, who is grateful for the turnout, says it’s about more than just the trucks.

“It's not about the trucks. We use that to interest people to come, but it is about the charities. So that's what we raise the funds for,” Schroeder explains.

All proceeds from the show are donated to two local charities, Soup’s On and Steinbach Community Outreach. Soup’s On Founder Joy Neufeld is appreciative of the event.

“This event is amazing. We've been fortunate enough to be the beneficiary for a couple of years now. Every year it gets bigger and better. The support from the truckers, from the sponsors, from the people in general, it's just a huge event and it's an extreme honour to be a part of it,” Neufeld says.

She explains the funds they receive will all contribute to their school lunch program.

“To feed the kids while they're in school so they can learn, they can concentrate, hopefully, graduate,” she says.

Finally, Neufeld, who founded Soup’s On almost two decades ago, shares her gratitude for the event organizers, volunteers and community.

“I couldn't have done this for 19 years without you," she says. “Your support is amazing. Your support means everything to me. I am just one of the luckiest people in the world to have to have Steinbach at my back. So, thank you.”
