Police in Ste. Anne dealt with two drug-related incidents Saturday.

At 7:20 p.m. officers pulled over a vehicle that was being driven erratically. A 45-year-old man was arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. Police Chief Marc Robichaud says officers in Ste. Anne have specific training in the recognition of drug use in drivers and there is also a drug recognition expert on staff.

In a separate incident, police were called to a home in Ste. Anne where a male was having medical issues related to the use of illicit drugs. The man was experiencing hallucinations. He was taken to hospital, then to the police cells before being released. Chief Robichaud says there has been an increase in cases where police are dealing individuals using drugs such as cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamines.
