The next few years have the potential for significant growth in the Village of St. Pierre but at this point, it is mostly dependent on the provincial government.

Mayor Raymond Maynard says one of their main focuses in 2019 will be setting aside funds for future work on the town's aging infrastructure. He notes the other two are fixing drainage issues and rallying support to lobby the provincial government for the twinning of Highway 59, both of which Maynard adds involve working in partnership with the province.

Maynard says they potentially have two developments in the northeast corner of town waiting to begin but have been stalled because of problems with the provincial drain that runs around the community.

"The current development is about 17 acres so I think there are 45 homes going into there and north of that development, there is room for another 40 or so, I don't know the exact number, but there's the potential of close to 90 homes going up if we can get that drainage done," explains Maynard.

He adds they are waiting for the province to clean the drain as well as replace culverts from that same drain which collapsed last year under Highway 59 near the Esso. Maynard hopes to see that work completed in 2019 in order for growth to begin in their community.

Maynard notes once the new councillor is elected in February, they will have a strategic planning session where they will discuss future projects and needs for the town.

He adds the St. Pierre Fire Department will need a new fire truck in the near future so he says that will be one of the items brought up at the planning session.
