Fire Chief Jeff French says they are being proactive because of a winter with not much snow and because there is no rain in the immediate forecast. Residents of Emerson-Franklin are allowed to have fires in an enclosed pit if the wind speed is below 32 kilometres per hour.
Other municipalities that have already announced burning bans are Stuartburn, De Salaberry, Tache, Ste. Anne, Ritchot and Hanover.
