A long time fixture along Main Street in Steinbach will disappear next week. The old Solomon's Budget Furniture building will be demolished. Owner Solomon Budala says they plan to bring it down on Tuesday or Wednesday.

"It's getting old and it's time to demolish because the property, the value of this land, is worth a lot more money than the building. We're also demolishing the bank building right beside us which used to be the TD Bank way back and also Scotia Bank. That building will go down with this old building, both 366 Main Street and 362 Main Street."

Budala adds he has some plans for a special project on the almost two-acre site.

"We have some plans we're working on. The land is worth an awful lot of money so we want to do something really good in this place. We don't know exactly what kind of a building we're planning to put up but we will let you know down the road."

Budala adds there will be one last clearout sale at the old building this Friday and Saturday to get rid of old stock. The leftovers will be given to Menno Mart and the Southland Church distribution centre.
