A second person has died following a collision Monday night on Highway #3 just northeast of Sperling.

RCMP say two cars collided head-on around 7:20 p.m. They report one vehicle carried a male driver and a female passenger. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the female was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There were four people in the other vehicle. Investigators say the male driver was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died later in hospital. The three passengers had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say it is not clear whether alcohol was a factor or if the occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Sperling is about 85 kilometres west of Steinbach.
