Steinbach MLA Kelvin Goertzen says it's getting harder to remain patient about improvements to the new entrance at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre. As soon as it opened, complaints began to come in about the narrow wheelchair ramp and steep stairs. Goertzen raised the issue at the Manitoba Legislature last week on the final day of the session.

"I had the opportunity on Thursday to spend about ten minutes speaking in the Legislature about the Bethesda entrance challenges for those who have mobility issues and even for many people who are able bodied that have issues in terms of climbing stairs and then had the opportunity to speak to the new Health Minister. She recognizes the problems, they acknowledge it's a problem, they say there's a fix coming but I am frustrated in the time that it's taking to both fix it and tell us what that fix is going to be."

He adds part of the problem is all the movement on the government side in terms of who is serving as which Minister and that seems to be slowing things down.

As far as the short Fall Sitting of the Legislature, Goertzen says it was difficult to get much done because of all the distractions created by the cabinet revolt and the many new Ministers that have been appointed to replace those who left.
