The Manitoba government has just approved a new grant for the Borderland School Division.  The Division applied for an intensive newcomer support grant and will receive $5,000.00 to help immigrant students make the  transition into the local education system.  CEO Don Wiebe says they will be starting up a homework club for the grade 6 to 12 students to receive help and support.  The club will have a certified teacher who has an appreciation for other cultures and the required education.  Wiebe adds the rest of the money will be spent on resources and supplies.  The club will host a parent night once a month to keep the parents informed and in touch.
